The Volkswagen Prague Marathon ranks among world's top ten marathons. It was awarded the IAAF Road Race Silver Label in 2008 and 2009. Thousands of runners from the Czech Republic and 71 countries from around the world took part in the race in 2008. Running directly through the center of this very beautiful medieval city and being supported by more then 30 music bands and dancers along the course makes the race an unforgettable experience!

Prague Marathon Results 2010

Two athletes from Kenya won the 2010 Volkswagen Prague Marathon, each setting a course record.

Eilud Kiptanui, 26, finished in 2:05:39 to win the men's division, besting last year's course record set by Patrick Ivuti by more than two minutes.

After crossing the finish line Kiptanui said, "The weather was very good that's why I was able to win."

Kipatanui faced some tough competition, including Sammy Korir, who has run a 2:04:56 in the past.

Helena Loshanyang Kirop won the women's division in 2:25:59, which was also a course record.

Yemane Tsegay of Ethiopia was second for the men in 2:07:11, and Nicholas Kipruto Koech of Kenya was third in 2:07:23.

On the women's side, Alevtina Ivanova was second in 2:27:36 and Ashu Kasim was third in 2:29:54.

The Volkswagen Prague Marathon had won of the strongest elite field's in the world. This year, there were ten sub 2:10 marathoners registered in the men's division. Five of them finished below 2:10 in the race.

There were 7,500 entrants with 50 percent of the field coming from abroad.

A new category has opened this year – when every member of a team runs the whole course his finish time is included in the final ranking of individuals as well as the teams.

VolksWagen Family Minimarathon

MiniMarathon: 4.2 km
This race is designed for families and individuals who want to take part in the marathon events. The participants finish at the Old Town Square where they can greet the marathon winners and enjoy the Marathon Music Festival.
Part of the 4,2km Volkswagen Family Minimarathon is also a charity project "Run for transplant". Half of the sum collected from the starting fees will be donated to the Karel Pavlík Foundation supporting organ donation and transplants.
Entry fee: 10 € (free entry for children up to 15)

 Allianz Eco Walk 2 km

If you don’t want to run, join the Marathon weekend and walk. You will enjoy Prague streets free of cars and support a good cause.
Entry fee is 5 €. Children up to 15 and seniors over 65 do not pay.

Race rules of Hervis Prague Half Marathon, Volkswagen Marathon

 * Hervis Prague Half Marathon and Prague Volkswagen Marathon are open to all runners over 18 years of age. Tesco Grand Prix is open to all runners over 15 years of age. All runners have to be officially registered. There are no age limits for non-competitive running events.
* The race rules are adopted from the rules of the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF), the International Association Of Marathons and Road Races (AIMS) and the Czech Athletic Federation (ČAS).
* Qualification is separate for men's and women's races. International rules of IAAF/ČAS apply to veteran groups.
* The race will take place regardless of weather conditions.
* Skates, bicycles and other vehicles are strictly forbidden on the racecourse.
* It is the runner’s responsibility to be physically fit and capable of completing the whole race.
* PIM is not liable for any damage to property or injury incurred by participation in, or attendance at, the event. Participants can buy an “ad hoc” accident insurance provided by ALLIANZ directly at the EXPO.
* The organizer has the right to close registration without notice.
* Registration fee is final and non-refundable.

Prague Marathon details

Timekeeping

Time will be measured by means of chips provided by the company Timing Data Service. Chips are a part of the start number that has to be securely fastened on the participant's chest. Chips are non-transferrable, they may not be reprogrammed or used for any other race. The chip deposit is € 20 / CZK 500. The deposit will be refunded immediately after the race at the technical support area or at PIM's office within 14 days after the race.

Start bag depository

The technical support area will be located near the finish. In the technical support area you can find: toilets, cloak rooms, start bag depository, washrooms, chip deposit/refunds, massages.
Participants may deposit only the PIM start bags, which they have received at the Expo, in the cloakroom.

NO OTHER BAGS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
